Two waterfront groups, the Toronto Island Community Association (TICA) and York Quay Neighbourhood Association (YQNA), are raising awareness of the flooding around the Toronto Harbour. They are hosting a forum to discuss facts about, and solutions to, the urgent threat of increased flooding around Lake Ontario in 2020 and beyond.
Elected officials, water level experts, businesses and residents are invited to participate in this open forum. Speakers include Sarah Delicate of United Shorelines, Canada and Mike French, an engineer with expertise in lake level forecasting. The aim is to raise awareness around a calamity that can cost Toronto millions of dollars when the spring thaw sets in. Unusually high water levels in the Great Lakes are already affecting island homes, businesses, condo towers, boating, aviation, developments and
infrastructure around the Harbour.
This is no time to relax and hope for the best. Come to this meeting!
